This was a year of change and two projects illustrate just how much the landscape had altered throughout the year.
In March 2022 we delivered an afternoon away day for a group of thirty nine trainee doctors. This was a project that had scheduled for December 2021 but had had to be back to March due to the Coronavirus restrictions.
The afternoon was mainly in our usual format, starting with our “Discovering Potential” art based session which gives people the opportunity to explore self limiting beliefs.
This being the first time people on the course had met face to face due to the Coronavirus restrictions in place, instead of following with the “Have Your Say “ session, over coffee, tea, biscuits and cake this was a great opportunity for people to meet and get to know each other even better.
As usual we ended with our uplifting Facing Challenges activity, in which people faced the challenge of learning, juggling, plate spinning, flower stick and diabolo before showing off their new found skills to great applause from others in the group, in their “team performance”.
Throughout the day we had been asked to deliver the afternoon whilst wearing masks and to maintain social distancing and of course we ensured all the equipment used had been cleaned from the previous away day.
Eight months later in November 2022 we delivered an away day for sixty two team members from a surgery that had only recently taken over another surgery.
The deposit for this surgery had been paid in July 2020, more than two years ago, but with a Coronavirus “hot spot” having been identified within the surgeries locality, there was an understandable need for caution.
Due to the demands within each surgery as both were both operating at full stretch this was the first time staff had been able meet face to face.
In contrast to earlier in the year, masks now weren’t required and restrictions on social distancing had been relaxed. Our procedure though is we still continue to clean all equipment thoroughly after each away day.
With this new found freedom people were able to interact just as they had been able to prior to the Covid pandemic and this proved to be just what the team needed !
